I cant post any pics, because I do not think the camera will pick up what I'm talking about but I wanted to see if anyone has heard of this. I have a 1999 penny, in pretty good shape, but when under 15x magnification, the finish seems to be satin. Its not mirror, and its not worn, the entire surface, front and back seems to have an almost satin look to it. Has anyone seen, or heard of any reason why this might be so? To me, it does not appear to be any post mint resurfacing or anything like that. Esp since its front and back, and constant all around. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated! Thanks in advance
no need to create 2 posts, it could be from an uncirc set, it could be from a grade school science experience..it's hard to say without pictures sorry.
Yea the two posts was obviously an accident. Why would an uncirc set be frosted/satin? And not a mirror like finish?
They have both a uncirc (which depending on the year can be a satin finish or a Business strike finish) and proof sets.. I don't have any pictures available but all you have to do is Google uncirculated sets and proof cents and you will see many many pictures of them
