You will often find error coins for sale with gimmicky names that suggest the coin is something special. Many times this is done so the seller can try to make more money from the transaction. Describing a coin as a die crack or die gouge sounds rather boring, but if a coin is called a "spitting horse" or "speared bison", it sounds more intriguing. The coin isn't really worth more because of the fancy name. It just sounds better. Here is a lamination error on a Buffalo nickel. I call it my "Crack Head". Chris

The speared bison dates back to the 2005 Westward Journey nickel, but it is not rare. There were thousands of them struck. I used to give them away. Chris
