I have a bag of this size and I have not been able to locate any sold prices to determine the value. I see a lot of $100 and $25 bags, but now that I think about it I don't believe I have ever seen a $1000 bag.(not that I've always been looking either) Has anyone seen one sell or and idea on value? I just got a really good offer on it and I don't know if there is something I don't know about it. Appreciate any insight!
You would probably benefit from checking this page out if you haven't already: http://coins.about.com/library/US-c...-SBA-Susan-B-Anthony-Dollar-Values-Prices.htm
I have never seen one in person myself, but I do know that at one time they were quite common. That is after all how the mint distributed them. Smaller bags were only made up and sold to collectors. As to value, yeah there is probably some premium over face for the novelty factor, but I'd guess that would be about it.
Note that in the about.com article I linked, the two valuable varieties of Susan B Anthonys are proof varieties. That mint bag looks like it probably consists of mostly BU or circulated coins. You may just have a bag of 1000 dollars worth $1000.
i was wrong, its $2k: http://www.frbservices.org/operations/currency/coin_depositing.html so if the mint sells $100 bags, and the fed uses $2k bags, where on earth did the $1k bag come from?
