Very cool. It looks as if a portion of the clad layer fell off after the coin was struck.

I would agree w/ Hobo on this one ... very interesting and might be rarer than it seems

Its missing a partial clad layer. Probably worth maybe $30-45.

Details are too sharp for the clad layer to have fallen off after striking.

if it were infact a mint error, which I believe it to be one, it would have that division of the different metals since the clad would have pealed off in a nice, even fasion. It should not be rigid, which gives much hope towards this coin being genuine. Congrats! :)

This. Clad layer partially fell off before the strike. I would guess that it is worth $100.

    Very sexy coin!!

mhmm the quarters weight is 5.9 grams.. shouldn't it weigh less is it was missing a clad layer?

Jablomi, your coin looks like it was dipped in acid or something. You're going to confuse people by talking about a different coin in this thread.

I agree! It looks like the clad layer separated and broke off the roll as the planchets were being cut out of it. Note how part of LIBERTY and the date appear to be weakly struck. This may be due to the fact that the clad portion that remained caused an uneven strike. This wouldn't have affected Washington because it is a much higher relief.
