1998 Penny

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Paul Broccardi, Jan 23, 2017.

  1. Two raised half circles in between the 4th and 5th, and 9th and 10th pillars. What could this be? Is it a major error and valuable or is it a minor error that is worth 1 cent? DSCF1445.JPG

Is this not a die clash? Still minor yes. What do you think could it be a clash?

I can't see any evidence of a die clash.

The Lawson example is clashed on both sides. With strong memorial clash on Obverse. The area in question on the OP picture is raised. If it were a clash I believe it would be incused.

They often appear incused, but clashes are raised.

this is a clash of above his chin and a section of wavy hair. The rest of the clash has been polished out

Looks like a clash to me.

Also good pictures! There is a post on here somewhere that does into detail on taking pictures that would really improve your already good pictures. The main thing is lighting, though. Get a second light and place one light on each side of the coin pointing at the coin from an angle.

I'll see if I can find the post.

  17. Thanks @NumisRookie . I actually had two lights in those photos on either side. I'm still learning more about my camera so my photos will only get better.

The thinks I have seen in Lincoln cents over the years has amazed me.

I agree. I mentioned that because with proper lighting and white balance, your pictures would be awesome. I definitely appreciate when folks take their time to get the right picture. You obviously do. Keep up the good work! [emoji122]
