Found this nice looking 1998-P quarter 2day in a customer roll. As i looked at the reverse there is something over the arrow heads that looks like another single arrow head. Im not sure what it could be and always look for help and advice with you ladys and guys. Anybody know what this could be? Mayb its a simple blister on the coin? Well any explanation would greatly help and be appreciated thx for stopping by and HappyHunting
I would like to see a close up photo which is clear and without the shadow on the left side. It is possibly a lamination which is not common on clad coins. http://www.error-ref.com/laminations-in-clad-coins/ It could also be a gouge or a clash, as already mentioned. If a clash looks like from George's eye. http://www.maddieclashes.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/40137814.jpg
i knw its not a coin im going to retire w/lol just i really like to know... from those that know more than me what im looking at for lator finds.
Okay, I think it is a raised die clash. Note this: “Not all clash marks are incuse. Some are – or at least appear to be – raised. The appearance of an isolated raised element most often occurs when the impact of the dies is light and and the area of the die involved is a narrow stip of field or a narrow zone of shallow depth that is flanked by broad areas of greater depth.” -Mike Diamond RAISED RATHER THAN INCUSED CLASH MARKS NOT REALLY A PARADOX, Coin World 8/11/2014 Page 50
