Hey guys. I was going through my pocket change today and noticed this dime. The edge is different from other dimes I have seen. It is beveled...I have never seen a dime like this. What is this called and what should I do with it? Here are 3 pictures. The first 2 are the error dime in question and the last is a regular dime edge. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... Look at the edge See... Regular dime edge.
Looks likes a partial collar strike to me, that's where the coin is feed into the collar, but doesn't sit into it all the way, leaving part of the rim above the collar, hence, the partial reeding.........
It's hard to tell from the photos. Could you give some more photos straight on of the obverse and reverse? A partial collar will have the unreeded portion of the edge larger in diameter than the reeded portion. I don't see that here. It is hard to tell but I am leaning toward post mint damage.
With the camera looking straight down at the front and back of coin? Is that what you are saying. I can do that.
The beveled edge is from the upset mill at the mint. It's used to raise the rim of the coin before it is struck. A soft strike will leave some of the bevel.
You can see that on the bottom of this dime there isn't an edge like on the top or a rim. The back looks fine. So is it something I should hold onto? Is it collectable? I am new at this coin thing. What would you guys do?

The rims have a railroad look to it i would say a possible partial collor but not sure give better pics of the rim. JC
If were graded MS-65 about $15.00-$50.00 but then you have to find someone who wants that type of error
