would a 1997 triple ear be worth more then a double ear?

Possibly, if it really is a tripled die, but there are no recorded triple ear coins I am aware of. Do you think you have one?

    Perhaps. If they actually existed...

  5. 3 ears instead of 2, yes that would be worth a lot. :D TC

Sorry to say, but it's not a tripled ear or any sort of mint error. It is damage.

One way I know that it isn't a doubled die is I "remove" the doubled areas on my mind. If the ear or doubled part of the design appears smaller than it should be with the doubling removed, then it is not a doubled die. A true doubled die will "add" to the design, not take away from it.

No it isn't. Compare it to a Lincoln Cent with a normal sized ear and you will see that if you remove the doubling, the ear on yours would look smaller than normal.
