This literally pretty penny ( for age and circulation) has a "letter/symbol" on the left column. It is raised and is kind of a blue color, appearing to be a different metal. The area around the column is pristine. Any ideas?

It looks like a popped plating bubble and that the zinc is starting to rot underneath.
