1997 nickel dd

    Hello,sharing to see what u think.. coin shows dd on reverse and obverse..at least to me it does..there are also lines on the coin which is are not smooth like a woody or from rollers..just what I think can I get some guidance..can take better pics if need just ask thanks

    No DD, just the beginning of DDD ( Die deterioration ) as the die starts to spread after being hammered so many times. Extremely common effect , whereas a true DD is rare as it occurs in making the die using a double strike and commonly caught and removed by the mint. Once the mint went to single strike of the image, it's arguable whether any multiple should ever occur, but somehow some are classified as being so by others. IMO, Jim

    Thanks Jim I really appreciate your time..I have accumulated about two years of my finds so I’ll be posting..I don’t know why Im attracted to the uglier coins..ugly coins need love too..lol thanks
