1997 loonie found in circulation

its has been dulled in places, like it was in a dusty pocket for a very long time. when i tried to find out if the value is high, all i can find is the flying loon 1987-1997 one. is this one more scarce?

Nice find. I don't beleive any 1997 Loonies were struck for circulation. It must have come from a mint set.

according to the North american coins and prices book, 5 dollars in ms-63 is the coins worth

I have no experience with those coins, I picked up the North american book mainly to get an idea of my Mexican coins.

 

thanks guys. these were not released for circulation. apparently there was a very low amount of flying loon ones dated 1987-1997 that were released into circulation, but that source might be wrong. i wonder if this one is rarer as i cant find any for sale, or even pictured in all my searching.

 

You would really need to find a collector who knows more about these coins, I looked up to see what I could find, but all I found was a specimen set which has a different design than the one you show.
