I'm new to collecting. I go thru "pocket change". I got this as change at a store. It has some scratches that are obviously after mint, but both front and back look like they are wrinkled under a 5X. Also these pics make it look tarnished, but it is shiney. His ear looks elongated like it's being pulled. He has a blob that makes him look like he has a droopy eyebrow. On the back the EPU is so messed up, it's hardly readable, & the eagles head is mostly a blob! There is little to no (mostly no) ridge around the rim, where there is a rim it is almost flat & most of the reeding is missing. What there is is faint and in the middle of the sides. It also appears thinner than the other halves I have. Question is this type of error called? Or is it called an error? Any help is appreciated. Haven't decided yet if I will sell. It's kind of neat looking. Take a look please.
Hadn't thought of road rash!! Ok so now I want to try running one over just to see, but that would be terrible!! It does make sense though for the scratches and even the flattened rim. Wish I could get a more 3D pic to come out. Naked eye it just looks shiney and new on the front, except for the missing part of the rim. How would that wear off the bottom rim totally and kill the reeding on the side? Darn I want to try it!! Oh my, my curiousity is getting the better of me I guess. Thanks so much for the help. As far as just plain wear. If you saw it in real life, I think that idea would be eliminated. Unfortunately the lighting in the scan makes it look flat and, I agree, worn. Thanks again for your patience with a rookie.
Kind of a sad testimony to the power of gambling. Think about how many times a coin has to roll through the machinery of a slot machine to have its reeding worn off.....I can only imagine.
