1997 D Dime Doubled Die?

    Dimes aren't my fancy, but when I got my change back today, the broken piece of the 9 caught my eye immediately. Then when I checked it out under the loupe, I noticed some possible doubling which would be machine doubling or a true doubled die. One big note, look at the S in TRUST, that looks like a second letter under there...

    I'm thinking that what you are seeing is die deterioration. What you are looking for in a legit doubled die is notched corners with separation lines (if you don't understand that, check out my thread of the 1995 DDO).
