1996 quarter

    Is this considered doubling on the D of In God We Trust?

    No, I don't think thats doubling. Doubling looks more like the picture at bottom. The
    letters are a lot thicker, and you can see a shadow of duplicate lettering below the original lettering.

    I don't think you are showing true Doubled Die lettering. Looks more like Mechanical Doubling and/or Die Deterioration Doubling.. IMHO

    Still is doubling, even if a different variety! But, you could be right, paddyman, because the image I posted showed stronger doubling.

    However, I still don't think that the 1996 quarter is a doubled die.

    Just want to make sure you understand the difference. Mechanical/Machine doubling and Die Deterioration doubling are not any kind of varieties. They are considered just worthless doubling. Now Doubled Die Doubling is the only true variety. ;)
