In my opinion it looks alot like a dug coin. Environmental damage. I have alot of clad coins I've found metal detecting that look just like that.
Agreed. Notice how the reverse is mottled in color and not uniformly darkened. You can tell its some sort of oxide layer rather than the color of the metal itself.
I think those who respond to my posts should actually be nicer about it. This isn’t random social media. It’s a coin forumn. I’m new to this. And I want to get people’s perspective, in a nice way.
It was lost in the ground for a long end period to turn this color. It’s called environmental damage or ED.
Pretty sure it's obvious that the dark coloration is what the OP saw and made them think it was an improperly annealed error.
