@Mountain Man will be first to say, I don’t like these zincolns lol! Yes it’s a MAD :) But, I stopped on this one. I think it’s machine and PMD. I just find the date interesting. So “you say?”….

Obvious PMD. I would say, you are correct!

Pam…there are 3 major things going on here with your coin:
    1. It is a MAD…correctamundo!
    2. That circular scuff on the left side was made by a wrapping machine (PMD).
    3. That is die deterioration on the date, IGWT and Lincoln’s profile. It is not “flat and shelf-like, so, imo, is not machine doubling.

The one other major thing I noted is something that is not going on: There appears to be no wear.

I can ballpark grade to most levels, but coupling no wear with a scuff, a MAD and die deterioration…my best feel for what a professional grader would assign as a final grade is MS61. I did not see any split-plating, but, imo, if any were obvious I think the grade would slip to AU55.

Question for members: Is any split-plating allowed by TPGs?… I have seen many Zincolns with minor split-plating that still retain decent eye appeal. Is split-plating of any type an automatic disqualifyer?…Spark
