1996-D Lincoln question?

    Here is an URL about how the mint electroplates the zinc core with copper. It is a very sensitive balance of chemistry and electrical activity, and an imbalance can leave a thicker band areas and also thinner band areas. Since it is dealing with atomic size, the areas can be very small in width. I think that the monitoring chemists didn't do it correctly and some are wider ( also in our eye very tiny) than others like your example, and then the planchets will be form into an irregular plated cent by the force of the press.
