Ok This is the last post. I came across these two quarters somewhere around a year and a half ago. They both have discoloration. I scanned them and took a picture with a web cam to show the color a bit more. I don't think that they have missing clads, but again I don't really know much. Does anyone have any comments as to why they could be colored this way?

Just wanted to check again to see if anyone knows any reason that these coins would look this way, specifically the 1995P. I just found another that looks pretty much like this one its a 1996D.

They look dirty and circulated to me.

Its like the dirt is in the metal.

Could be something with the planchet maybe? I dunno, I go through about $100 in quarters a week and I see plenty of quarters like the ones in your picture.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge will take a look and we will both learn something :)

After researching, the closest thing I could find is coins struck on sintered planchets. Does anyone know if this may be possible and maybe tell me more about sintered planchets?
