Hello All, Just wanted to check if this was PMD or an error. Thank you for taking a look. What I'm guessing to be an error: Obverse: 1. Possible doubling of eye? 2. Mint mark? Reverse: 1. Doubling of arrows? Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
So that eye is not real? Is it a smudge? Can you explain to me what it might be Chris? I've shown it to like four other people and they can see it too. Otherwise we all must be going crazy lol Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
I'm just trying to get answers..where is everyone else who usually comments? Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Showing it to four other people doesn't mean much unless they are experienced collectors who know about doubled dies. It doesn't look like hub doubling to me. It looks more like the other "stains" I see on the obverse. As for the rest, I still think you are trying to convince yourself that there is something present when there isn't. Chris
I just looked up hub doubling on google and it still says it's a double die. Sort of confusing. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Pull a dime out of your pocket and closely look at the same area near the eye. See anything "interesting"?
Not really. I think I know what you're talking about but I can't see anything from arms distance like the quarter. The quarter I can see the eyes from arms distant. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
I'm not trying to convince myself. I just want to make sure. Thanks chris. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Yeah... You have to get closer than an arm's length way, or should I say that I have to, but the point was that the fold of the eyelid can give the appearance of doubling where none is actually present. It's just part of the design and if I recall correctly is somewhat similar to that of the quarter. I will not insist that's the case with your quarter, but I cannot help but to think it may explain what you're seeing.
I think I see a well placed bag mark, and a late die state, It would also be the reason for the second profile, and mm.
Agreed definitely a second profile. And a little more light on the eye area. That would give me a better perspective of what you're trying to show. Just a thought. Just a thought turn the coin with the nose facing up and give it about a 35% angle. and a little controlled light to take the shadows out of the eye. Then if you would flip the photo to where it's properly presenting the coin. I know that would help me out.
So I found another one that seem to have two eyes except this one is a 1997 D. I can't be going crazy because I have perfect eye vision. IMG]http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161005/93af1fb65ddf4664801dfcb375dfea74.jpg[/IMG] Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
No disrespect intended, but while you may have the perfect vision some of us lack, you've also shown yourself to be afflicted by the pareidolia "bug". Have you ever considered learning to do photo overlays? I cannot say for sure if one of the free programs (I believe gimp or photoscape?) are capable, but if you have photoshop it may be a wise investment of your time.
Taking a second look. Doubling on the mm is a combination of a late die state and mechanical doubling. There also seams to be some staining in the area of the eye." It might be the lighting though" There could be many explanations with out having the coin in hand.
Thank you. Still learning and I'll make sure to download the program suggested! Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
