I have no means to weigh it at this time. I can find no traces of cladding anywhere on this coin, I have checked all 3 sides. The worn areas show through as a bright copper color. There are also a few light scratches which reveal bright copper. Here is another pic with better lighting.
I am not sure it might well be the scan but to me it appears to have traces of silver colour on the rim and specks elsewhere, could it be a electolosis experiment perhaps? Whatever it turns out to be thanks for sharing it with us:thumb: De Orc
I checked it over with a loupe and couldn't find any silver colored specks. The spots you see are either dust or verdegris. The rim looks silver because the lighting. I hope this helps. It's the same thickness and diameter of a normal dime.
Wasn't going to say it before, but I once stuck a dime in the water tank of my toilet to see what the chlorine tablet would do to it. A month later it looked exactly like your dime.....hope for your sake their not same dime. :eat: Also, I have found many similar looking dimes, quarters and nickels when metal detecting beaches. The bright copper your seeing is most likely the core metal as the outer clad has nearly or completely been eaten off.
