    Now if these can get out of the Mint into a ballistic bag, I fail to see how a nail/dime is any less possible. When one tours the Philly Mint and looks at how open the entire inflow of blanks portion of the process is to the ceiling and self-guided tour walkways, and how much "crap" is going on up near the ceilings, it's NOT HARD TO IMAGINE how a nail/dime happens. What's amazing is that there aren't more such things.

    Circ strike coins are a thoroughly industrial thing - more foundry than anything else. The numismatic striking rooms are another matter altogether.
