Hi I am new here, I just received a misaligned face $20 its been circulated. just looking to get an idea of price as I could not find any others on the internet like it ( not to say there aren't others). photos are attached.
Congrats on solving the new-thread AND posting-pictures issues! I'm not one of the paper-money folks here, but here are my observations anyhow. Pros: It's an older style It's a star note It's obviously off-center Cons: It's well-circulated It's heavily marked It's not far enough off-center to actually lose any of the design (that seems to be a big threshold for value) I'd expect that it's "worth keeping, but not worth selling". Some might say it's a spender, but I'd be inclined to hang onto it -- until I really needed a twenty, at least. Welcome to CoinTalk!
Hello and Welcome ! " Close but No cigar. " I think some of the design has to be cut off to matter any. I guess it doesn't make the "Cut". Also, it could been on a sheet and cut unevenly??? I'm not an expert, just a small-time collector.
sensiblesal66, I would intend to agree with you except the back is not nearly as misaligned as the front. if it's not worth anything then great, if it is then great as well.
@Andrew Schukar. Yeah, I saw that but wasn't quite sure but I did remember that some of the design had to be missing for it to be desirable by collectors. At least it has a Happy Face. I wonder what that is for. A tip perhaps?
It's circulated but a star and a slight error at that. I suspect you could get $25-$30 on Ebay for it but I would just keep it and put it in a sleeve. It's one of those notes where "it is what it is and that's where it will probably always be." If it were uncirculated, it would be worth more and possibly gain in value some over time, but it is far from that.
With paper money, it needs to be perfect to be of real value. That smiley face and line mark are killers. Then there’s the circulation issues. On the brighter side, it’s a star note and an older note, a 1995 issue. There is a slight misalignment of the front and back but not enough to help with the value, given its condition. Welcome to CT.
Not going to be worth more than face value for another century or so. But I'd say it's worth holding onto and putting it in a case to keep it flat. They don't print this style on current bills anymore and they're getting rare to find in pocket change. You have a $20 star note with the classic 90's design + an offset front print. So it has enough going for it for future collectors to enjoy.
It is a spender... there no premium on a note as such, and selling it on ebay the fee's would put you in the red trying to sel it. Neat find if uncirculated and no ink on the note...as is most paper collectors would pass.
