Any information would be greatly appreciated! There is also machine doubling on the date, mint mark, and Liberty.

Good photos, But what exactly are you seeing?
Normal ear, and strike doubling on the rest of the cent.

David D it looks like it took a hit IMO but I would wait for a excerpt or two.It might help if you would post a pic of front and back. Thanks

I definitely will. I also had a chance to look at it at different angles/lighting and as much as it saddens me to say so, I think you're right. I'll try to get good photos of the angle I'm talking about so I can post them here and a facebook page where there was different opinions.

Agreed! I used the multi image app for Instagram to put them right over each other and was able to determine that the length of both were in fact the same. It's not a total loss though. With the other slight errors, it makes for a decent coin to add to the collection.

Yeah my method is cheap Charlie but it works for a quick check just didn’t know if you’d seen it as a side by side.

I didn't want to do it, but for the sake of honest collecting, I checked and will now, most likely, cry myself to sleep again tonight I have roughly 1500 more pennies to go through that I picked up from the bank so hopefully there will be something exciting in there. I have a few other coins in question that I'll post in seperate threads. Thank you very much for everyone's help!!

I haven't quite figured out if this is a design element or if it was a filled die, this design is very common on the 97D.
