    Good Day to all!
Trying to figure out the difference between a capped die , strike through capped die, late stage capped die, brockage ,and counter brockage. I picked this coin up yesterday so i can have an in hand example. What category would this one fall under?
    Thanks. upload_2024-2-11_8-20-46.jpeg upload_2024-2-11_8-20-46.jpeg upload_2024-2-11_8-20-46.jpeg

From the photos it looks like an early stage die cap. I am not seeing any design transfer in the surfaces that suggest a brockage of any kind. If you see any please try to get a photo of them.

I do not see any design elements from the reverse but there is a line across the head at the eye and one at the shoulder. This area is the same size as the memorial but there is no detail.

At some point the reverse design features have to dissipate at the same time the obverse is starting to appear.
I would think this coin is a middle stage capped die.

If we were talking about just the Memorial design. Then I would say a Mid die stage.
When we are talking about obliterating nearly all the details in the obv die, I would think that it still fits the early stage.

Thank you for the reply's! Is there any information that describes the (early, mid, and late) progression of these types of errors
