1994 Double Die ( I swear if I'm told it's not true doubling I will scream)

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Melissa Weller, Mar 12, 2021.

  1. My question is are their alot of 1994 double die D pennies, or are they fairly common?? I cant find anything on them really. It's very clearly stamped twice.

  4. It's clearly doubled, how can u say it's not? I know what true doubling is this is true doubling

  5. It's not extra ink that bled, it's not peeling away, its stamped clearly twice 2 D's overlapping each other.

  6. One D is actually sideways tilted to the side

  8. I dont even know why I get on this sight for real, I get nothing but negative rude comments from complete strangers all the time, only one I've had was from an older gentleman that was so nice. Does it make you all feel good about yourselves to be nasty to people treating them as if they were stupid, as if u are better than others, its unnecessary and not appreciated, I'm done with this and dont need to be insulted I will ask opinions and take my stuff elsewhere I'd rather pay money to have them check than listen to the rude negative mean comments.

Yes, it's clearly Doubled. But it's on a zinc planchet. The type of doubling you see is actually common on Cents startingbin 1982 and after all this time they are still very common on 2021 cents.

There are many forms of doubling. DDD, MD, worn dies, ejection doubling are but a few of them. They all fall under the category of NAV or No Added Value Doubling. Yours is a form of NAV.

  10. I'm not in it for value some coins I only keep simple bcuz I like the coloring or look I'm not out to make money I simply like to collect the coins I like...thank you very much for not treating me as if I were stupid and thank u for explaining it to me I very much appreciate it.

    Hello there.
Sorry to say but that is Die Deterioration doubling.
That's not a true Doubled Die variety.
FYI - A true Doubled Die Variety has nothing to do with a coin being double stamped.
Here is some helpful information about Doubled Die Varieties - https://www.doubleddie.com/58222.html

    Peace

Mercury dimes were minted from 1916 to 1945 it looks like a 1919 D to me.

You're more than welcome. Personally, I think your coin is a nice example of this type of doubling. DDD is Die Deterioration Doubling and this is a nice classic example. I would label and keep as an educational piece.

The Dime is a Mercury Head Dime, probably a 1919, which was a common date.
