Hello Gang. I'm new to all this. Fascinating !!! Does the date look like it was punched twice?? I've compared to other 1993 pennies and they do not look like this odd ball.
That is just one of the reasons why I call any Lincoln struck from 1982 to present a Crappy Zincoln. ~ Chris
I am really more interested in the reverse. But that is because I have been looking around for a coin that is possible, but not been discovered. (Being the 1993 wide AM). That would be a 1993 with the reverse of a 1992.
Welcome to CT Robert. Along with a little DDD, the mint mark is already suffering from zinc rot, which is common on the post 1982 cents. It's a spender IMO.
Robert.. Welcome to CoinTalk Two very important things for you to know. First. A Doubled Die variety has absolutely nothing to do with a double strike. It is one strike with a Die which image has been doubled. Second. The correct numismatic terminology is Doubled Die. Not double die. That is incorrect. Here is good information for you to understand the difference http://doubleddie.com/58222.html
And for coins after 1995, doubled dies aren't really doubled dies as the die is only squeezed once, but people still pretend it's that way, Class IX ( Only God Knows) doubling. Same reference as Paddyman gave, just at the bottom of the scroll.
