1993 Penny die scratch in head

    That's not a scratch. It's raised and the most common spot for a Die Crack.

    When the Die is overused it can eventually crack. When it strikes the blank planchet the metal from the planchet flows into the crack and appears raised. It doesn't crack the coin.

    Looks more like a die crack than a die scratch. Die cracks are fairly common and fun to collect.

    Always fun to find a spikehead. In great condition for 30 year old zinc cent. A saver for sure.
