In my opinion it is just from a worn die. But I'm no expert.

Looks like a worn die to me but does it make a difference?

If it’s MD or DDD. Either one is only worth face value.

See how the doubling wraps around the devices? That is definitely DDD.

That's not a Doubled Die variety.

The value aspect doesn't matter to me, what does matter is I've yet to find a true Doubled Die coin so it's about the hunt for me. Just because I want to find one ;)

And I was using the wrong abbreviation I believe, I was actually asking if it was machine doubling or an actual Doubled Die. Paddyman understood what I was asking tho. Thanks all

You probably won’t find a doubled die coin in circulation. They are rare.

I was pondering this: I estimate that 95+% of my doubled dies are from CRH events and pocket change. I have a few hundred ranging from fairly insignificant to significant (listed in Red Book).

Patience and volume, along with knowing what to look for, will yield fair results. For example, a box of Cents will yield a dozen or two minor DDx’s. And perhaps two to three dozen including minor varieties and a handful or two of LWCs (8-12). Snag a few high grade specimens, maybe 50 out of 2500 cents worth putting aside. Not great volumes for sure, but enough to keep my engagement.

Key varieties are pretty rare though. It generally takes dozens and dozens of boxes to find one.
