If you are thinking this is an RPM it can't be because they stopped hand punching the dies by 1990, If you are talking about something else please explain as I don't see it. Richard
The secondary mint mark is raised. I didn't see the bottom area of the 3 under the lamp, but the D showed up in the tray, was why I pulled it. I know that they stopped hand punching the MM on the dies in 90. But the rotation in relation with the numbers for a double stike is way off, because I assume the same die would have made the strikes. The angle of the "D" in relation to the 9 & 3 is much different, I believe. Maybe I'll spend the $3 just to find out ? Because now I am really curious. Think I should list it on eBay as a "one of a kind" error coin with a mininum bid of 35k ? gary
Sent a pic to a good friend who is one of the foremost experts. He told me likely "Plate buckling" before I sent the pic. I have seen a lot of plate buckling and it's always parrallel to the stamp, like a shadow effect. I cannot imagine this plate would have buckled with that amount of rotation ? Like I said, mystifying to me. Hope someone can explain it. gary
