At first I thought this coin was just the result of a die repair with striations, but upon closer look, there are images also of either multiple strikes or counter clashes. I would lean toward counter clashes. There is one offset to the East and one to the West and one where you can see the stairs and columns below the normal stairs tilted down to the West. The may also be one North.

I indicated what I am seeing (not the best, but maybe this will help). Thanks.

I'm thinking what you're seeing is a normal strike for that year. Die scratches and striations are common. I was looking for other things, die cracks, chips or a major clash. Also, a full step on the memorial would have been nice but I see wear in the middle of the steps and a few small hits. With that said, you are certainly looking in the right places.

I disagree with what you see. Could be a bad planchet or worn die. Too many other lines all across the field, almost the entire Reverse to call it a Counter Clash

just your imagination... i see polish lines an linear plating blisters, but you are turning them into something thats not there... stop looking so hard...

Possibly cleaned and retoned dark again. The lines I'm seeing run in all directions. Also, looks like plating issues abound. Try looking at the coin as a whole not looking for something. When you look at a coin, you're looking for something. If you look hard enough, you'll find what you were looking for. :)
