This stood out in a roll of pennies. I was thinking maybe it was in a fire, but with the loop, to me it IMG_0022.JPG IMG_0026.JPG looks as if it may have happened when it was minted. I am new to this so a little help please. Looks neat though. Thanks all.

IMO, stained by some kind of liquid. Clean it, you'll see.

I guess I should have said first, even though as a general rule don't clean your coins, I did. I first used Dawn dishwashing soap and water with Scott towels and scrubbed it, no change at all and minimal dirt was seen on the Scott towels after. I then used alcohol and Scott towels with no dirt or color change after as well. Even if burned by a lighter the black would come off, but nothing did.

Your coin has no numismatic value, try Brasso.

Hahaaa ok, thought I'd post it anyway thanks all. Brasso huh, well I am pretty good using that being in the Army 21 years. After using alcohol though with no results, I think I would end up with a much more shinny multi colored penny that's still worth a penny :)
