Of course a 1992 wide AM error cent would have been a much better find, but it's always nice to find an error coin!
Hi Joe - Here's a link to the Reverse Designs for LMCs - Reverse Design Varieties (varietyvista.com) RDV-006 ended in 1992, so the expectation is that the reverse on a 1992 would be a WAM. The CAM variety is the special one for that year. Also, RDV-006 appeared on the 1998/1999/2000 WAMs making those the variety coins since the should have had RDV-007 RDV-007 began in 1993, so the expectation is that the reverse on a 1993 would be a CAM. The reverse design on your coin above is correct.
To summarize: Memorial Cent circulation strikes come in two "AM" varieties. From 1959-1992, the normal variety would be the Wide AM. From 1993 to 2008, the normal would be the Close AM. All proofs have a normal Wide AM except for 1993.
Sorry Guys.....I'm a Dum-Dum......This is the second time I have done this....It is most certainly tough to get old....Well...In "My shoes " it is.... Again, sorry I posted this
Don't be sorry. It's simply a learning experience and maybe somebody else may be able to benefit from the thread.
Thanks NPCoin, it's just very frustrating to forget simple things that should be easily remembered....Especially when my Grandfather and my Father passed away with Alzheimer's....Sigh....What can you do?....Life can be a 4 letter word anytime it wants to be....Just got to deal with it I guess...
We all do Joe. Don't feel bad about mixing up the RDV change. I've forgotten a number of details since I stopped the CRH events. Don't use it...you lose it. I run a similar risk as you and one way to offset the effects is to keep the cognitive activities going. Studies on monks with Alzheimer's showed that symptoms manifest much later and were attributed to the routines they performed and the continual reading/studying. I assume any hobby would help in that regard, so keep coining and enjoying yourself.
When I was posting, I was thinking about our conversation about car projects. Something more for me to consider at some point. Keeping the brain engaged. And get a cool ride out of it!
Your right Kev....Keeping the brain engaged is very important...And I have to say I know I have been starting to become more forgetful...But I am so thrilled!!...Because I have NOT forgotten my cooolll riiiides!!!
This thread had me thinking: I had accumulated a bunch of change from breaking bills the last few months, so although I've done the high-level picking, I decided to do a closer examination for 2 reasons: 1) to retrain the brain regarding varieties by date/mm for various denominations (since I haven't CRHed in a very long time) and 2) gather some input for another fellow CT coin enthusiast. Remember that commercial with the frying egg? "A mind is a terrible thing to waste!" Well, time to rededicate a few braincells to an extraneous task of hunting minor varieties. For a while anyway.
