1992 washington quarter. what is this?

    is this some kind of collar clash or misaligned die? thanks in advance.

    If it were a misaligned die, we'd need to see the reverse. If the reverse is normal, it would be misaligned. If it looks like the obverse, it would be off-center.

    the reverse looks normal. the obv doesn't look like other misaligned dies I have found. they usually look off center until you flip them. the doubled rim look throws me off. thanks for your response.

    Looks like a MAD with the obv shifted toward 6:00 (can't be sure because you don't show that part of the coin) resulting in a wide fin forming between the edge if the obv die and the collar.

    That just wasn't centered in the collar. Return it to the Mint, they'll give you your quarter back. :D
