Just wanted to get some input on this penny. It looks to me like doubling on the LIB in liberty and on the 2 on the date. Thanks in advance Wed Dec 16 09-05-18.jpg Wed Dec 16 08-51-12.jpg Wed Dec 16 09-01-38.jpg

Looking at the entire obv., I'd say worn/overused dies,
    but MD is a possibility.

It's zinc so not the type of doubling you want to see or have.

Welcome to Zincoln World where almost all of them look like crap. Just my opinion, happy hunting.

  12. Isn't all Doubling done by the machine. What am I missing here ?

    No.. Not at all.

A Doubled Die is created during the hubbing process. That's true doubling that would fall under the Variety Category.

MD - Mechanical doubling and DDD - Die Deterioration doubling has nothing at all to do with Hub Doubling and fall under the Worthless doubling category.

    All is explained here
    https://www.doubleddie.com/58222.html

    And here
    https://www.doubleddie.com/144801.html

When new collectors that are searching for true Doubled Die varieties understand the difference then these types of threads will end. Hopefully.
