Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on for awhile. No time, and no coins that made me go hmmmmm?......until now. I have a 1992 penny that looks like it has cracks in it. Can anyone help me out with what it may be, or how it may have happened, or if it normal and I just haven't seen it before. Thanks in advance!!!
Yep - just die cracks! And by the top reverse picture looks like die polishing lines also. Not worth much, if anything, but fun to collect!!
Those are common places for the cracks to show up, too, off the edges of the building. 1983 and up seem to have a lot of these. That's not to say the cracks themselves are particularly common. I'd call this a keeper.
Nice find! Like the others have indicated, they are fairly common. Don't just look at cents. Check out all coins for these types of die cracks and other anomalies. Here are a few I've found over the years. Happy Hunting!
Nice.. but if you are going to post so many pictures you should explain what they are. You have Die Chips, Gas Bubble plating issue and Struck Through... better to explain than to have a newbie wondering what they are looking at
