Hi All, Can someone please tell me if this looks like a close AM? If so, how would I go about getting this authenticated? Thanks!
Thanks for your prompt reply, and sorry for my laggard one! I bought a magnify glass and noticed that there is a slight space between the AM, sadly (which I am assuming means it is not a close AM). I am new to coin collecting, so you can imagine how I felt when I first discovered the piece. In any case, I will keep looking. Thanks.
I'd rather see closer pictures. Most likely it's not, but I wouldn't toss this one into the reject pile just yet--I can't tell for sure either way from the pictures. On the close AM, there is still a small gap. Check out the pictures on this page.
It's easier for me to tell by the style of A than trying to gauge the gap. On the CAM the A is shorter.
Hi All, thanks for the prompt replies, I really appreciate them. As I mentioned earlier, "I bought a 6x magnify glass and noticed that there is a slight space between the AM, sadly (which I am assuming means it is not a close AM). I am new to coin collecting, so you can imagine how I felt when I first discovered the piece. In any case, I will keep looking. Thanks."
Closer pictures would be very nice. Also helpful is to take a cent with a known CAM from another year to compare. Likewise with a WAM.
The Authoritative Reference for Lincoln Cents is a cent searcher's bible. http://www.amazon.com/The-Authoritative-Reference-Lincoln-Cents/dp/B0032CLWQE Also sites like coppercions.com or thelincolncentresource.com are good for cents, while varietyvista.com will make your head spin with info on everything you could find in change.
No need to bother photographing it in a mirror as it would be a waste of time and effort. Just post clear images of a reasonable size that will allow the board to see the coin. Even if a longshot, there is no harm in doing so; perhaps you might learn something. Welcome to the forum.
