Cheers I'm new to this forum. Just happen to be looking through some pennys and this one appeared to be a close AM penny. I wanted everyone's second option on it. I compared it to other pennys and it appears the AM on this is nearly touching compared to others. It's supposed to be seen by the naked eye and as far as I can see it appears so. Thanks for any insight.
Enlarged it does not appear to be the close AM. It looks like it took a hit to the A which moved the metal slightly to the right creating the look you are seeing. But let's see what the others have to say.
Yeah I've been going back and forth with it. Change my mind every other time I look at it. Thank you for the insight.
I am still a newbie but I've looked at a bunch of these AMs. I don't think this is a near AM and the main reason I don't think so is from the reverse and the positioning of the FG which does not appear far away from the monument. i think that is the way it works. Here is a good page to look at: http://lincolncentresource.com/wideams.html
Thanks. I have a lot of coins that I get in the form of mint sets I get them every year but I recently thought it was very interesting to see some of the coins you can find still in circulation. The hunt is what interests me the most I suppose.
I totally agree. Finding a wheat penny in a circulation roll is much more exciting to me than buying the same or even a nicer coin at a shop.
