Looking through my coins I noticed this scratching, and to be a compleat novice I was wondering what would have caused it. The main thing I was wondering about is that it appears to go behind parts of the coin image or behind the ica in America without scratching the letters? Thanks in advance for what is most likly something basic.
From the pictures it just appears to be a stain of some sort. Maybe it just wore off of the high parts of the letters making it seem to be behind them.
