I recently starting collection cents and have been through about six five gallon buckets or so. I have many cents that are sought after but being that I am new to coin collecting I can't tell if this is a proof. It was encapsulated in a jar of cents that I bought from an older gentleman. Well here goes and hopefully the pics are good enough. First time posting pictures. Thanks in advance. I kept the cent encapsulate. I'm not sure if I should take it out.
so no proof... I was hoping it was... Oh well I'll keep trying... I have more to go through... thank you
Shiny does not equal proof. A proof coin, having been struck twice, will show very, very sharp details and have a very square sharp rim. Your cent is simply a business strike that has been polished to death.
