I tryed to get as close as I could with my cam, just couldn't see it.but with my glass it's pretty apparent.the U has the tips smashed, the N the top points both have the same and so on,but what makes me think it is the D. I can see the curve in the smash.this is exciting stuff to me!

No way to help without pictures. I don't really understand the description either, but pictures are the most important aspect of identifying a coin.

What you have is a common Split Plating Issue. Nothing major.

If you are thinking it is DD - Doubled Die... then the answer is no

Thank you! What are the top 5 things I should purchase to start identifying coins. Cameras, books, ect. I want to get this stuff right and not waste mine or anyone else's time for that matter lol. Thanks again.

Much appreciated, and that's the first thing I knew not to do. Is that because of misinformation?

Yes and no. There are some great youtube videos that explain mint errors and varieties pretty good but I have seen many more that don't.. especially when they try to put a value on them.

The dime is FV, you need to start a new thread for the 1943 steel.
