    Sorry, die deterioration.

    When you suspect doubling go to Wexler or Variety Vista to confirm it.

    You should also include pictures of the coin full obverse and full reverse. We don’t even know the actual year, just your say so. And this is why you do it this way…imo…Spark

    Worthless doubling :(
    Common issue on many Copper plated zinc Cents.

    And the correct numismatic terminology would be Doubled die.. Not double die.

    I would love to tell you that you did indeed find your first doubled die. Sorry but I can’t say that. What you have has already been stated and it is doubled because of a worn die. It’s called Die deterioration Doubling. It’s very common. Welcome to CT.
