My husband gave me his change last night. In it I found this weared looking penny. Body seems to small for the head. Not to sure but it looks like you can see the whole collar in the suit.
It could be an over polished die that removed part of his neck. Not valuable like 3-legged Buffalo Nickel, but good eye.
Nope it is an overpolished die. A weak strike would show weakness in the high relief areas such as the head and strong details in the shallow relief areas such as the neck. Overpolishing gives you the opposite, strong details on the high relief and weak or missing details in low relief area such as the neck. This coin shows weakness in the low relief areas. Whether the coin shows die polish lines will depend on the fineness of the grit used in the polishing.
I'm new at this and I'm very much interested in learning more each day. I guess I get all excited when I find something new to my eyes. I thought I could see multiple strikes on the face pulling the head away from the body.
Your photos aren't clear enough, I am not seeing what you see, You can always revisit your coins put them away with like coins, in a tube or 2*2 flip, hunt some more, then revisit them.
