This cent appears to have extra metal on the reverse lettering. Is this an error? Im not sure if this would be considered doubled, die chips, or simply my imagination. 20170114_195614_HDR.jpg 20170114_195637_HDR.jpg Screenshot_2017-01-14-20-06-09.png Screenshot_2017-01-14-20-06-42.png Screenshot_2017-01-14-20-07-01.png

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

It's a plating issue. The zinc core is showing. Very common.

Makes sense. Everytime I've seen plating bubbles named as the culprit, they've usually been in the fields or very close to a mm. But it makes sense that they could show up on letters too. Thanks guys.

We already answered the question. It didn't really have that much of a rough life. Still looks ok for its plating issue.
