Hello all, While coin roll hunting I found this one where the mint mark appears to be considerably lower than normal, sitting between the NINES of the 1990. My album coin has the mint mark clearly above the date. I searched around a bit and didn’t find much information but it looks curious enough to keep with the few errors I have.
In the early 90's, the placement of the mintmark was incorporated into the machine production of the dies. Prior to that, the mintmark was hand-punched into each working die, so you could find many variations in the placement. Kennedy halves of the 70's can be found with the mintmarks all over the place.
