Hi everyone, My very first post here, and I'm still a bit new to CRH. But I've found this 1990 D half, and the mint mark appears to be in the wrong location, at least to some extent. What thinketh thou?
Hello JimT and welcome to CoinTalk! It looketh to be the normal placement for the Kennedy in question..
In the 70's & 80's the placement of the mintmark was all over the place because they were entered on the die by hand. Once the mintmark was incorporated into the hub, the position was more consistent. I think 1990 was probably the first year for this, and it may look unusual because of it. Chris
