I have acquired, recently, 2 1990 BU Red Lincoln Memorial Pennies as well as a 1990 PCGS MS65RD Lincoln Memorial. All three are in wonderful condition as you might tell. My question is how much would they be worth together? Thanks.
I'd like to tell you they're quite valuable but there just isn't a lot of demand and this date is relatively common in gem. If it's slabbed it would retail for about $15 but it would be a bvery tough coin to sell except at a steep discount. If you want one of these just buy a 1990 mint set. Most of the cents in these are gems. Check the set first since the Philly mint does have a little trouble with scratches.
Welcome!!!! Also check and see if there a VDB on the raw1990. some were minted with out VDB. no VDB they are very rare!!!!!
Jello, I thought it was the 1989 where some of the initials on the bust of Lincoln were grease filled making a no-VDB oddity, was there a 1990 one also? Although I guess almost every year might have a few such. Benhli28, Welcome to the Forum! Cladking's opinion is correct. Jim
I believe desertgem is correct about the 89...but theres probably a lot of varieties i dont know about yet.
I missed the no-VDB variety. That's quite interesting since there's a mint set version that has the initials in a much different relief. The letters are clearly visible but are extremely shallow. It appears in less than 1% of '89 mint sets. I never tried very hard to get it recognized because it seemed a minor variety. I'd have to imagine it was made from the same hub and the circulation version is actually the result of die wear. Quite interesting.
