From a set of P and D Uncirculated Set, this Nickel has the strangest look, high points and low all have the strangest texture of which I have not come across. Also looks as if the die was rusted. But I am sure some of you have seen this before. This may not be the right sub-forum, in which case the mods can move it

usually i would think that is damage but if its from a mint roll... interesting. Maybe die was covered in dust? Or it seems unlikely, but contact marks?

Not sure if I'm correct but I think the coins back then can get very scuffed up.By the plastic packaging I don't think those are all marks.

Everything you see is on the coin. It is out of the packaging, been rinsed with distilled water, soaked in 100% acetone for 1 hour and rinsed again before being photographed. Gently running the back of a fingernail across the surface, it is bumpy everywhere, fields and devices
