I am new at this and I am looking for positive support to advance my agenda. A simple yes or no works great for ones with more experienced that are looking for a 2nd. Opinion. I don't need a 2nd. Opinion for I am trying to get my hands around the first opinion. Here is a 1989D that shows doubling on both sides of the coin from the pictures I have attached can some one confirm that it is or is not with some definition. I would greatly appreciate it.
This appears to be a plating issue but not an error. All cents since 1982 are plated copper over zinc core and this happens very often. It appears doubled but it is not. True doubling is from the hubbing process. It, the doubling, is on the die itself and is then imparted to the coin. You may also run into bubbling of the surfaces, split plating issues, etc. Hope this helps.
Simple DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling http://www.error-ref.com/die-deterioration-doubling-incuse/ Nothing to do with a true Doubled Die as stated.
OK great read thanks Here is one more photo of that coin to be sure it goes in the proper bag. Also I post a nice 1964 LC I thought to share.
