Can anyone help me with this odd penny it looks legit. The inner ring is super close to the size of a dime. Weight on a good AND brand scale is 2.4 grams and 36GN.

    Thank you for your time.

Since it is so worn, and the regular weight is 2.5 grams, the weight of 2.4 grams is about right.

It is thinner than a dime and normal penny.

Being this thin with the 2.4 gram weight what could the planchette be?

As stated above...it has lost some weight due to wear. Possibly got stuck in a clothes dryer for an extended period of time.

I am fairly sure it is PMD, no matter what. The decrease in all 3 dimensions is a sign of acid effect, which also would remove the copper and then react badly with the zinc core. Perhaps also the edges were exposed to a grinding action, as even normal extensive wear does not diminish the rim so much more than the middle area. the weight is OK for all of that.

On my monitor it looks acid treated.
