    Hi All!

Just wondering if anyone has ever seen the small dots error on the front of this type of silver coin?

I've researched a lot, but came up with nothing. Picture is included, 3 small dots are on right side. Many thanks in advance.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

That's not an error, it's damage.

The edge of another coin hit your coin, leaving the three dots. Probably when they were packing them in the mint. Just damage, nice coin though regardless, the early silver eagles look very nice.

You'd probably find out the distance between each dot is the same distance as between each ridge of the Reeded edge of the coin itself.

@Shekby1985, does that by chance have a little "S" on the back?

Hi - no it doesn't. Just has the JM initials on the right side of eagle.

She looks somewhat like a proof in that picture, that's why I inquired. Still, she's in a handsome mint state condition. Those dots, as noted, are just a chance "kiss" from a reeded edge. These coins are still very common in that condition, and that's why it's a coin toss (pun, lol) whether to grade her.

    Welcome to the asylum. :)
